Sewing Burda 08/2017 #119 Dress with the Burda Style Academy Sew-Along

Updated: Feb 1, 2019

When I saw that there was a free sew-along for this dress through the Burda Style Academy, I jumped at the chance to get a free lesson for a Burda pattern! *Update: This pattern is no longer free, but you can access the sew-along here.

Burda patterns do not come easy to me, as the instructions are so vague, but the more I try Burda patterns, and the more sewing I do, I have found it has become a bit easier.

This sew-along was totally helpful! The instructions were very thorough, and Meg took each step slowly and explained everything. It was helpful for me to listen and watch the instructions that Meg gave, and then compare it to the written instructions, to translate how Burda patterns are written.

I'm not sure I could have figured this thing out without the step-by-step instructions! There were pleats, and folds and all sorts of things going on here. But it ended up being a really fun sew!

This is also a pattern I probably wouldn't have picked on my own, but with the free sew-along, I couldn't pass it up! I love how it turned out, and I love trying different looks.

The fabrics I used were from JoAnn. I used a green twill for the main portion of the dress and the Tropic Time Linen Fabric for the contrasting band.

I signed up the next Burda sew-along, which is for a swimming suit. I'm so excited to give it a try!
