Black Jumpsuit with Blush Blazer - Simplicity 8178

This outfit was a fun combination to sew. I found an inspiration photo on Pinterest which had a black jumpsuit with a blush colored blazer and I loved how it looked together, so this is my interpretation.

I happened to have Simplicity 8178 in my pattern stash already; which included both the jumpsuit and blazer patterns, so it was perfect.

I found the fabric at JoAnn. Even though the pattern recommended a Cotton or Chambray- type fabric for the jumpsuit, I wanted something with stretch, so I found this Stretch Crepe Knit which worked out beautifully. For the Blazer, I found this Crepeback Satin in Blush which I ended up using with the shiny right side of the fabric facing in, so the matte wrong side of the fabric was on the outside.

The only modification I made to the jumpsuit was that I added a cuff to the bottom of the leg. I feel like that gave it a sportier look which I liked with the contrast of the blazer.

Overall, I would classify this as an advanced beginner project. The jumpsuit is fairly straightforward, but the blazer is a little more technical. Such a fun outfit to sew!
