Burda Frills Dress 12/2015 #122a

This pattern has been on my to-sew list for awhile, I love the look of the gathered panels in the middle and the flowy sleeves.

I bought this cute paisley panel at FabricMart and thought it would be perfect to make this dress in. The fabric is a Cotton Lycra and it was kind of a dream to sew with. It had a smooth sheen and a slightly heavier weight to it. The length of the panel was almost exactly the right length for the lower portion of the dress, I just had leave about 3 inches off the bottom of the hem to make it work. I used a black knit for the bodice and sleeves.

I would say this pattern would be a good project for the Intermediate Seamstress, as it includes an invisible side zipper, a full lining, gathered panels, and set-in sleeves.

It was a fun pattern to sew, and a perfect dress for Valentine's Day!
