Blue and White Striped Burda Lapel Wrap Dress 04/2015 #121

I have had this pattern on my To-Sew List for quite some time... I'm so glad it finally found it's way to the top!

This pattern has so many great details that I absolutely love! The big pockets on the side, with the direction of the stripes going the opposite direction, the big lapel, the fact that it's a wrap dress... I love it!

I love how Burda styled this dress as well, with the navy and white striped fabric, so I thought I would go the same route.

I found the fabric at Hobby Lobby and had my choice between the a 1" stripe or a smaller stripe. I went with the 1" stripe, and I'm so glad I did. I think it's just the look I was going for!

I also picked up the Petersham Ribbon to line the ties at Hobby Lobby as well. This was a technique I hadn't done before, but I love how the ribbon gave the ties the extra structure and stability they needed!

This pattern would be perfect for an intermediate seamstress or a very confident beginner, as it requires some thoughtful placement when cutting, darts, facings, etc. Otherwise, the construction is fairly straightforward.

Such a unique and beautiful pattern though! I hope you decide to give it a try yourself!
